Following the success of last year’s “Humans of Christ School” showcase, Winter Film’s 2020-21 participants wanted to spend more time producing short, scripted feature films. We hit the ground running in early November, writing and planning for three short films: “Secret Sauce,” “St. Joseph’s Chapel,” and “Lockerboxing.” The Winter Film crew divided into separate production teams and, with lots of returning video producers, these short films moved through the production process quickly—filming was nearly wrapped in early January.

Then came the next idea: what would be the centerpiece of this year’s show? Fueled by Dr. Simrill’s familiarity with “town films,” this year’s Winter Film crew set out to document Christ School in the era of COVID-19. While the past year has been nothing short of challenging, we thought it was important to showcase the resiliency and determination of our community amidst a worldwide pandemic. Even more important these days is the ability to find not only meaning, but also humor in our own human experiences. The coronavirus pandemic has undeniably tested us, and changed our lives forever. The battle is not over, but amidst everything that has been against us, Christ School persists. Go Greenies!
